s DMC celebrates its 60th Anniversary, you need to know that
age... wine, cheese, Dallas Market Center!
Think about this. When the Homefurnishings Mart opened in 1957, building the foundation for DMC along with the Dallas Decorative Center, there was less than a half-million square feet of exhibit space. That very first market in summer 1958. Less than 2,000 retailers attended.
Today, Dallas Market Center—four buildings in total, one of them 15 stories high—o ers more than 5 million square feet of exhibit space. (Wear comfortable shoes when you visit!) And market attendance? With markets that cover home, gift, lighting, apparel and accessories, more than 200,000 attendees pass through DMC’s doors each year for markets. And let’s not forget DMC’s robust open daily business.
We also know our industry and our retailers are always evolving. That’s the nature of the business, and it’s why we’re always evolving too. The original Homefurnishings Mart has gotten a makeover and is now Interior Home & Design Center. (See story, p.60). We know how important it is to stay in step and provide the tools you need to make markets and your businesses successful.
So, here are just a couple of things we’ve been working on to make your DMC experience and your stores even better.
Right now, you’re looking at a new DMC Source magazine. It’s hefty right? It has a new look and lots of great content to keep you up to date on the latest industry happenings and trends. The new DMC Source is designed to help you plan for a great summer market and successful year. Is there something you’d like to see in Source? Email dfalvey@dallasmarketcenter.com. We want to make sure we’re
meeting your needs.
You’ll also see new Buyer’s Directories when you come to market. They are larger, easier to read, market-exclusive and all-inclusive. Each directory will not only tell you who’s at market and how to reach them, it will also provide you with lots of information—what’s happening on the Dallas Market Center campus, who’s having great events, where to eat and how to recharge. Make sure to pick one up and take it home with you. And don’t forget to download the DMC App. We are always working on improving the app to give you real-time information for a smooth market experience.
